Enrollment and teachers
- State count: 229 students in fall 2025, compared with 241 in fall 2024 and 217 in fall 2023, according to the School Quality Profile. The state’s count starts at kindergarten, so pre-K students are not included.

State report card
Virginia rates schools two ways. Accreditation shows whether a school meets the state’s Standards of Accreditation; a fully accredited school “submitted all required evidence to the Department of Education as prescribed in the Standards of Accreditation,” the profile says. The School Performance and Support Framework gives each school a score and one of four performance levels: Distinguished, Meets Expectations, Approaching Expectations or Needs Intensive Support.
- Accreditation: Fully Accredited for 2025-26.
- Framework score: 61.9, performance level Needs Intensive Support, in the state’s division summary.
P.B. Young serves pre-K through second grade, so it has no state test scores of its own: Virginia’s reading and math tests start in third grade.
The full profile also reports attendance, student groups, teacher data and spending.

Its addresses are zoned for Booker T. Washington High (60%), Granby High (21%) and Maury High (18%) at the high school level. Families on a zone edge should check their own address.
