State report card

Virginia rates schools two ways. Accreditation shows whether a school meets the state’s Standards of Accreditation; a fully accredited school “submitted all required evidence to the Department of Education as prescribed in the Standards of Accreditation,” the profile says. The School Performance and Support Framework gives each school a score and one of four performance levels: Distinguished, Meets Expectations, Approaching Expectations or Needs Intensive Support.

  • Accreditation: Fully Accredited for 2025-26.
  • Framework score: 81.15, performance level Meets Expectations, in the state’s division summary.
  • On-time graduation: 78%. Of 283 students in the 2025-26 cohort, 222 graduated on time; 52 earned an advanced diploma and 168 a standard diploma, and 46 dropped out.

Standards of Learning pass rates (share of tested students who passed):

Subject 2023-24 2024-25 2025-26
Reading 62% 75% 78%
Writing 55% 59% 63%
Math 62% 73% 53%
Science 57% 65% 62%
History and social science 36% 46% 42%

In 2025-26, 90 students took an Advanced Placement test and 23 took dual enrollment classes, the profile shows.

The full profile also reports attendance, student groups, teacher data and spending.

Attendance zone and feeder schools

Look up any address in the division’s Find My School map, or see the 2026-27 boundaries in its Redistricting Locator. Zones do not follow neighborhood or ZIP code lines, so check the address, not the area.

Feeder schools: we laid the division’s 2026-27 middle and high school boundary layers over the city’s 78,561 address points. By address, the Lake Taylor High zone draws from these middle school zones: Azalea Gardens Middle (60%), Southside STEM Academy at Campostella (15%), Ruffner School (11%) and Lake Taylor School (9%).

At the elementary level, the largest shares of its addresses fall in the zones of Little Creek Elementary (38%), Southside STEM Academy at Campostella (15%), Larrymore Elementary (11%), Lake Taylor School (9%), Chesterfield Academy (9%) and Tanners Creek Elementary (8%). Middle and high school zones do not line up exactly, so classmates from one middle school can split between high schools.

The consolidation plan calls for renovating Lake Taylor High for career and technical education in Phase IV (2030-34), when the Norfolk Technical Center is listed to close with its students moving to Lake Taylor High, the division’s timeline says. Our schools guide follows the consolidation plan.
